Channel Tunnel Infographic

This project involved designing a 20x30-inch poster to visually communicate information about one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. I selected the Channel Tunnel, the world’s longest underground railway, as the focus of my design

Objective

The objective of this project was to design a clear, logical, and visually engaging poster that combined charts, maps, and illustrations to convey key information about the Channel Tunnel.

Research + Execution

The process began with research, followed by sketches exploring how to visualize both qualitative and quantitative data related to the excavation and operation of the Channel Tunnel. My focus was on the tunnel boring process and the engineering achievements that followed its completion. To communicate this, I designed a cross-section of the Dover Strait, strategically placing information within the illustration to create a clear visual narrative.

Final Thoughts

This project allowed me to combine research, data visualization, and illustration to tell the story of a remarkable engineering achievement. By translating complex technical information into clear, engaging visuals, I was able to create a poster that effectively communicates the scale and significance of the Channel Tunnel.
